About Patrick Bunton

Professor of Physics at University of North Georgia. Current research is in optical imaging of flow instabilities using fluorescence and Schlieren imaging. In particular we have looked at using polymerization reactions to stabilize viscous fingering. Currently are efforts are transitioning to the effects of particle loading on flow instabilities such as the Rayleigh-Taylor instability or Double Diffusive Instability. My primary area of expertise is optics with experience in optical imaging, Schlieren, shadowgraph, spectroscopy, and fluorescence imaging as applied to viscous fingering of fluid flows. I also have experience in holographic imaging of crystal growth as a testbed for microgravity experiments. In addition I work with undergraduate students in matters of sustainability and community development with an emphasis on solar power and education. I have travelled with students to Guatemala, Honduras, Haiti, and Eleuthera (rural Bahamas). Recently I worked with other faculty and students to do a Science and Technology camp for Mayan students in San Martín, Guatemala with the organization Xela AID, where I formerly served on the Board of Directors and Advisors.

Listed skills include Optics, Materials Research, Epr, Spectroscopy, and 17 others.
