Patrick has more than 20 years of experience in the patent profession and specializes in patent drafting, patent litigation, patent prosecution, and patent counseling in the area of ICT & Electronics. His technical expertise includes security/cryptography, artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, wireless communication/networks, wired communication/networks, and lighting. Patrick works closely with clients of all sizes, ranging from SMEs to multinational companies. He has further worked with law firms on many court cases, both before the Dutch courts and the Unified Patent Court.Patrick obtained his Master of Science degree in computer science at the University of Twente, specializing in distributed and embedded systems. Before joining De Vries & Metman in 2015, Patrick worked for almost 10 years at Philips as patent attorney and for almost four years at TP Vision, the former TV department of Philips, as Head of IP. Before starting his career as a patent attorney, he performed applied research at Lucent Technologies in the areas of Wireless LAN, 3G, and middleware platforms.
