Since moving to the west coast in 2011 I have represented First Nations, environmental groups, and individuals on matters related to mining, protected areas, sacred sites, aquaculture, and forestry. I have represented clients at supreme court, provincial court, small claims court, and in commercial arbitration. I have also been a board member on several environmental and progressive organisations, both locally and afar.Some of my specific areas of focus and experience are:– Protected areas, including municipal, provincial, First Nation designations, co-management, and sacred sites– Bankruptcy and insolvency in relation to both contaminated properties and protected properties– Mining, aquaculture, forestry, old-growth logging, and eco-forestry– Tribal parks– Civil disobedience and injunctions– Societies and charities– Trusts and charitable purpose trustsFrom 2012-2014 I balanced my environmental and First Nations work with general practice in Tofino, BC, through Raincoast Law. I enjoyed filling the role of "town lawyer" in such a unique and diverse community, and appreciate the many learning opportunities that general practice offered.My focus is on environmental and First Nations law, as well as civil litigation, regulatory law, and aboriginal criminal law.

As part of Ontario's only modern comprehensive land claim I was hired on a two year contract to come up with a package that would satisfy both Ontario Parks and the Algonquin First Nation regarding parks. In one year I designed a package that exceeded both side's expectations, and was the first positive "give" from Ontario in the negotiation process.
