About Patrick Carroll
Lecturer in music, media and cultural studies, and musician of contemporary electronic music.Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electroacoustic Music Composition from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, which explored the fusion of traditional electroacoustic compositional techniques with contemporary and popular electronic music.I currently lecture at SAE Institute in Sydney, focussing on music composition and production, as well as media and culture studies.In 2021, I completed my Doctoral thesis which explored new approaches to musical tension and resolution (“tensile discourse”) in works which were built with a fusion of the compositional techniques of popular electronic music and acousmatic music.I compose, produce and perform music under Pat Carroll, and have worked on several commissions for advertisement campaigns and sound design projects for clients including the City Recital Hall, Vexev, Streamplate and Shapes in the Sand.
