Here's a few of the things he brought to the table: Pat is incredibly design minded, and in most of the assignments Pat takes on, I've noticed his knack for breaking the brief down and getting to a specific need. Because of this, Pat as a concepter is particularly suited to working on problem solving, and designing with a strong visual set of rules. Pat is one of the best designers I've worked with when it comes to structure design for games. With one of the projects I worked with him on, Pat would design a high quantity of iconic buildings every week, each with a strong read that would inform us of its implied function from a thumbnail as well as from up close. There was a vast range of functions and languages that Pat had to convey into his designs, and he absolutely nailed the work. Pat is humble to the point of underselling himself, but he's also broadly great at all walks of concept design. Pat produces high quality environments pieces, mood pieces, industrial designs, etc. Everything I've seen Pat produce has a high amount of technical proficiency and attention to narrative and emotion, so I would consider him wonderfully well rounded. Pat can flex in a lot of different styles, and is equally proficient in 2D as he is in 3D. All of these skillsets listed above, but with his design minded process and problem solving being called out in particular, makes for someone who can direct and command Art Vision. Pat is an excellent communicator, and I think he makes for an excellent concept artist, an excellent Product Owner or Director, and an excellent team-mate for any project he's working on.
