My department and direct reports are responsible for sourcing conventional and organic vegetable raw material for the packaged salad business as well as the carton commodity programs. We develop the planting schedules for our growers in order to achieve weekly budgeted harvest volumes based on sales forecasts. Responsible for negotiating deal structure and terms for grower/supplier contracts. Negotiate leases for company farmland holdings to support strategic cost and quality initiatives. Overall responsibility for internal Ag operations that deal with the direct production of crop (transplant and greenhouse operations, planting department, internal farming group(Royal Packing LLC)) in all production areas throughout California and Arizona. Budgeting and Capital for ag business units and growing cost with subsequent P&L responsibility. Work with marketing on new product development projects and product launch. Formulate departmental objectives to support business goals and develop strategy and initiatives to achieve them.

Responsible for grower sourcing in all areas of California (Huron, Oxnard, Salinas) Negotiate land leases, grower contracts, crop sourcing, new product development, project management, execute against company objectives and strategic initiatives. P&L responsibility for two business units (Salinas Transplant Company and Dole Custom Farming).

Develop planting schedules for 12 different commodities. Monitor crops to ensure quality. Grower contracts. Ensure grower compliance with all food safety initiatives. Evaluate varieties to determine feasibility for both commodity and Value Added programs. Oversee production cost accounting for accuracy. Special project lead on initiatives such as Tender Leaf program, new product development, and other projects in order to reach company objectives

Responsible for pest scouting and control strategies for company farm as well as partner growers. Managed 2500 acres of vegetable crops for insect and disease issues. Made application recommendations for crop protection products to control these issues as to ensure top quality products. Supervised in house spray program and negotiated best pricing for foliar spray and fertilizer materials.

Monitor vegetable crops for customers and control pest and disease pressures to suitable levels. Develop soil fertility programs based on soil and petiole sampling regiments. Inventory management of crop protection products and fertilizers with an average monthly inventory of over $4mm. Worked to formulate custom dry and liquid blends of fertilizer products to best suit grower needs as well as environmental sustainability.
