Won a Society of Professional Journalists award for my coverage of sex trafficking in a blighted Columbus neighborhood and a Press Club of Cleveland award for coverage of the pandemic job market.I built audiences for the news outlets I worked for with stories that regularly received more than 100,000 page views and dozens of subscriptions.Below are some of my major scoops.In 2008, when I covered regional government for the Marietta Times in southeastern Ohio, I was the first to report that the clerk of courts in Washington County had overspent her budget and was on the weeks away from running out of money for payroll with several months left in the year.Voters ousted the clerk of courts and two county commissioners following my coverage of the scandal and the botched response to it.The EPA was forced to meet with Shenandoah Valley farmers to explain their intentions after I broke the news of agency plans to inspect northwest Virginia farms. Ohio's medical board voted down a proposal to let doctors recommend marijuana for the treatment of childhood autism when my reporting outlined limitations in the studies that supported its use. Chipmaker Intel clarified and expanded on its environmental promises after I wrote about their plan to achieve carbon neutrality at an upcoming central Ohio chip factory. And the city of Columbus expanded its outdoor dining program in 2020 to give local restaurants a boost thanks in part to my coverage of the coronavirus pandemic.This is what I can bring to any news outlet, a record of impactful reporting that results in meaningful change, and I hope to continue that work for the foreseeable future.
