The Governor's Health Sciences Academy (Academy) was established in 2018 to respond to the region’s urgent need to expand our healthcare talent pipeline. This unique public-private collaborative effort between Alexandria City Public School and The George Washington University was created to respond to the region’s crucial need to expand our healthcare talent pipeline. The Governor’s Academy seeks to promote teaching, learning and hands-on experiences for career pathways in STEM focused health sciences, support students who pursue postsecondary education, and to prepare graduates to meet workforce needs.The Academy provides students an opportunity to start a career pathway in health care and earn up to 18 college credits while in high school. The academy offers six career and technical education pathways: biomedical informatics, medical laboratory sciences, sports medicine, emergency medical services, nursing, and surgical technology.The Academy’s first cohort of 100 students will graduate in 2022. More than 400+ students are expected to graduate by 2025 and either enter the workforce in entry-level healthcare positions or continue their education to enter the healthcare workforce in mid and high-level health profession careers.

I worked to complete various jobs as assigned from registration and grade processing to commencement.I actively assisted the Registrar in keeping up to date with rules and regulations with regards to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and then provided this information to international students, all college faculty and higher administration.My job involved constant daily interface with student, faculty, and administration to discuss and explain local and federal laws as they apply to a setting of higher education. I also worked to ensure that the academic policies of the College were maintained and followed from the moment a students walks in at Registration to the day they cross the stage at Commencement. Beyond the interaction with students, I worked at maintaining various student databases and ensuring correctness and confidentiality of the information therein. These databases consist of physical paper files, to online files, and the College's Student Information System.

I worked directly with the University's Office of Admissions to facilitate intake and recruitment. In this capacity I gave tours of the campus, met with prospective undergraduate students, and participated in the University sponsored Open House and Preview Weekends.I further worked in the Office of the Welcome Center as an office assistant where I gained a proficiency in working with the SIS Banner.

I designed and implemented the layouts for the Pace University Senior yearbook working alongside my Herf Jones Representative. I was responsible for ensuring the book came together cohesively and I worked to train other editors in how to operate our design programs.
