Lead an organization of 585 employees in Indonesia that manages 16 warehouses, 3 large container yards, an international port and a large transportation fleet. Team includes warehousing, inventory management, expediting & cargo scheduling, procurement, contracting and project management functions. Manage supplies inventory of $585 million with 193 thousand items cataloged and 129 thousand items stocked in our warehouses. Implemented improvements that have dramatically improved service level (up 30%), reduced inventory (down $70 million), increased inventory accuracy (up 15%) and strengthened our standing with our customers at site. We have also focused on efficiency through process re-engineering and tool improvements that have enabled us to add warehouses at site to get closer to our customers and improve our service without increasing staffing.

Responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the processes, systems, tools and reporting used to manage inventory, warehousing and cataloging within Freeport’s 21 mining and processing facilities globally. Led the implementation of SAP for those functions during a systems conversion project in 2010 - 2013. We enhanced the ERP functionality to improve process effectiveness and efficiency through implementation of custom apps such as MARS and CARS for online master data updates and through third party apps like Oniqua Analytics Solution (OAS) to improve inventory optimization and SAP Mobile to enable our warehouses to utilize mobile devices for barcode scanning and transaction processing.

Led review of the long-term viability of our two third-party manufacturing sites in Mexico and Brazil. Resulted in transition of the site in Mexico from a manufacturing site to a distribution-only site and the closing of the site in Brazil. Managed the shutdown of the site in Brazil, replacing it with a direct ship model from the U.S. using an expedited customs clearance process called “Dry-docking”. In Mexico, we implemented new inventory strategies to reduce lead times from over 22 days down to 13 days which helped improve inventory turns from under 4 turns per year to over 7.

Managed focus factory for the packaged product distributed to the Latin America market. Led implementation of the Latitude II re-engineering effort which included new processes in all areas of the operation that led to lower costs and improved lead times. Manufacturing cycle time was reduced from 5 to 2 days. Latitude II improvements also enabled the elimination of outsourcing of raw material storage and kitting activities and resulted in savings of $1 million per year.

Managed the exportation of Microsoft products to customers in Africa, India, and the Middle East (AIME) sales region from our Canyon Park facility in Bothell, WA. Led the design and implementation of the first automated export documentation system used at Microsoft called QuickShip, which eliminated the manual processes involved in preparing export documentation and increased accuracy and efficiency.

Responsible for all aspects of international air cargo and ocean shipments for the Seattle branch. This involved ensuring that Customs clearance documents were completed accurately and timely, customers were billed timely and that export documentation and duty drawback paperwork was processed correctly.
