Patrick studied Civil Engineering at Sligo Institute of Technology (previously Sligo Technical College). He has also completed an online course affiliated with SIT on Construction Economics, qualifying with a distinction. He initially worked for an architectural and engineering practice in Ireland where he was involved in a number of mixed-use, commercial and residential projects including a masterplan for the expansion of the picturesque Blue Flag seaside village of Enniscrone in County Sligo. After leaving the architectural and engineering practice he worked for a series of developers on many residential projects including an ambitious project to reclaim an 8 hectare bog-land site for the development of a 95 bedroom hotel, 117 residential units and a 3 storey office block. He has also worked in Russia, Spain and Scotland on various engineering projects. He joined a Specification consultancy practice in London and gained his experience in writing Architectural Specification for numerous world wide projects including the MASDAR eco-city, a city relying entirely on solar energy and other renewable energy sources, Central Market and Zayed Nation Museum in Abu Dhabi, the upgrading on the London DLR transportation system, London Victoria underground station and the London Blackfriars Overground and Underground Station, London Heathrow Terminal building and the Cycling Velodrome and the Aquatics Centre projects for the London 2012 Olympics. He joined Foster + Partners as a Specification Advisor and has been involved in the development of the in-house bespoke Specification system in conjunction with the Partner in charge. He was made an Associate in 2013 and Associate Partner in 2015.After gaining a lot of experience in innovation and design in F+P he joined AHMM as head of specifications. His role is to enhance the existing specification writing within the practice and to integrate other design disciplines such as sustainability, CDM and life safety and BIM.
