Develop & provide appropriate training. Monitor, liaise with and initiate instructions to pest control contractors. Gather, analyse and interpret information such as accident causation, insurance claim root causes and maintain critical documentation for archive. Produce performance and trend analysis reports and present these to operators. Investigate claims and determine appropriate responses. Support insurers with claims investigations and decisions relating to EL claims & property damage loss. Support the licensing and security managers in delivering their objectives

Originally engaged for a six month period to provide cover to various UK regions. The contract was to provide support, for a limited period, while Tesco recruited additional colleagues. I worked in several different regions: including the midlands, greater London and the Eastern Counties. The contract was extended twice, and latterly I covered the SW region. The role was supporting operational functions in retail, distribution and fulfilment centres. Working with retail to implement improvement plans following low scoring audits. To support stores in their efforts to improve their food hygiene rating and liaising with local authorities. Investigating accidents, overseeing pest control efforts, investigating food complaints and supporting stores with advice and assistance in all matters relating to legal challenges from Environmental Heath, Trading Standards and health and safety at work.

Headquarters 3rd UK Division. Rank: Major.Reporting to Commander Medical and the General Officer Commanding to plan and implement all aspects of environmental health across the Division. The population at risk is in excess of thirty thousand. I managed a team that conduct audits of units and implement Food Safety and Health & Safety policy. I advise commanders on all aspects of health maintenance and disease prevention. I have gained extensive international and multi-national experience leading teams of environmental health staff during periods based overseas, short tours and exercises. Providing the Divisional focus for preventive medicine including Food Safety, Health & Safety at Work. This year I conducted overseas visits to Kazakhstan, Brunei and Germany. I Led the HQ Medical input to the Swine Flu planning for the Division.

The senior regular Officer in the unit. My principal function was to lead the twenty strong team to train and prepare the unit of 150 people to deploy to Afghanistan to provide the definitive medical support to UK forces. I Deployed with the unit to Camp Bastion and returned them to the UK. This was achieved successfully. I Served in Bastion and Kandahar as Medical Intelligence Officer within the HQ and co-ordinated the environmental Health Team across theatre.

I was the Environmental Health advisor to the HQ staff and Divisional formations. This position encompassed all aspects of Environmental Health. The main function was to conduct audits of units to assess operational readiness. Tour of duty was short due to a deployment to Iraq and an early departure to attend Command and Staff training. I reported to a Colonel Commander Medical, a British Doctor.This was effectively a multi-site organisation spread across a large geographical area providing service support 24/7. I was the focal point for Food Safety, Environmental Protection and Health & Safety at Work. This required me to co-ordinate between the Military, the UK authorities and the German agencies.

I was the sole Environmental Health Officer in an International Corps Headquarters based in Germany. Working alongside all NATO nationals to provide preventive medicine advice during planning and to deploy with the HQ on operations. Reported to a Belgian Doctor and a German Doctor to implement policies across the Troop Contributing Nations. This appointment required me to promote positive safe working cultures in a multinational environment.As an additional duty I was appointed as Officer Commanding the service stewards at the All England Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon where I commanded around 700 staff drawn from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force together with London Fire Brigade officers. The organisation controlled access to all show courts for the Wimbledon Fortnight. I continued in this position for five years handing over in 2007.

I was responsible for the management of a training establishment in Germany. The sole provider of Preventive Medicine training for the British Army Germany. With a staff 5 Military and 1 civilian an annual throughput of some six hundred students totalling 3500 student hours.I formulated training policy in conjunction with HQ 1st UK Division and United Kingdom Support Command. The courses undertaken include all aspects of operational hygiene for Soldiers and Officers. Subjects range from water purification, field sanitation, pest control and food safety for caterers including cleaning technology. Health & Safety At Work Training: risk assessment, noise at work, management, manual handling. Display Screen Equipment, First Aid, Safety Signs, Fire Risk Assessment etc. I was also the senior lecturer for Food Safety, cleaning science and law. As head of establishment I was liaised with civilian awarding bodies such as BTEC, CIEH and the British Safety Council for recognition of our training and the accreditation of our courses with external qualifications. The management included the full range of duties: regulating quality of teaching, development of instructors, maintenance of real estate and budget manager. The development of training materials and regimes. Determining the technical content of the courses run and assessing students for awards. As part of a large training organisation I also provided the focal point for environmental protection, health and safety and food safety for Sennelager Training Centre. Co-opted member of the British Forces Germany Health and Safety steering Group as a specialist advisor on health and safety training. Achieved civilian accreditation, introduction of internal and external validation of training.I was deployed to Kosovo in June 99 as Medical Force Protection Officer KFOR. This was a NATO deployment and once again I was working in an international and muti-national setting.

Based in Rheindhalen and Dusseldorf. Responsible for the operation of an Environmental Health Team. District Adviser on all Environmental Health and Safety matters, including Food Safety. Management of change as Headquarters reorganised twice. For three years I was appointed Warrant Officer in Charge of Service Stewards for the All England Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon. This was an additional voluntary duty that involved recruiting 350 Service Stewards and administering their deployment throughout the Wimbledon fortnight. During the NATO Implementation Force (IFOR) deployment to Bosnia 1995 I was deployed and based at a Multi-National Headquarters in Sarajevo. I reported to Belgian Medical Officer of Health for all Environmental health aspects within Corps Troops. Investigated disease outbreaks and installed water treatment plants in Military locations.; was detached to serve as the EHO in the Falkland Islands Responsible for all aspects of Health, Safety and Food safety throughout the Islands. Port Health Officer and Environmental Health Representative to Falkland Islands Government Board of Health. Implemented a system for prioritising health and safety inspections based on risk.

Based in Lisburn County Antrim. Responsible for all health matters in Province including, Environmental Health, Safety and Food Safety. A multi-site operation throughout the province EH was established as an important role. Introduced a successful system of accident reporting for the Brigades.
