About Patrick De Jamblinne

2015, the concept of the MiniMill has evolved with a self-propelled harvester with embedded dryer and extruder Production capacity: 15T/h of briquettes. Funding gap close to be solved (900k€).. and not solved 2014: In progress: launch of the Micromill concept. The target is to operate the portable pelletizing equipment as a real showcase. Unfortunately, many assets lost during the civil war in Eastern Ukraine.2013: The project "Pellets for Power" is ending. The project aimed to establish a sustainable herbaceous supply chain between Ukraine and the NL. A trial load is delivered in Marum to a district heating plant.2011: development of an operational project in Slovenia. The Slovenian plant was in operations (wood pellet production) in Kamnik (Ljubljana) then moved to Serbia. Same attempt in France (Meuse): it was not successful despite many demands.2009-2010: incorporation of a company (www.2zk.eu) for the operations of a straw pellets plant in Ukraine, export of the production to Poland, Belgium, Austria. In 2007, with a team, we have started the sourcing of biomass. The starting point was the test plantations of energy crops (switchgrass) in Ukraine. Larger test from 2010 was promising in Ukraine. --------------------Since the 1990s, development of various commercial real estate in Central Europe, offices, retail, warehousing, and industrial parkMain locations: Czech and Slovak Republic, Ukraine, Belgium-France-NL, Balkans; now/Morocco.

Where to set the cursor? In the frame of the climate change, between the ignorance and the greenwashing, it will be more useful to set the cursor on the right position. Is that possible to ignore the impact of your activity on the climate, the biodiversity?is that usefull to deliver a pseudo "green neutrality"? This is a risky business with the numerous liability that a corporation is facing and will face.Your carbon coherence is important to maintain your human resources support and the credibility towards the stakeholders.

The start-up, scale-up studio Green Goat has delivered the first concept of "smart urban farm" in Oujda. The African population will double by 2030 and 60% will live in urban areas.ChampiOr, the smart urban farm project, is a first step to answer the question: how to secure fresh food with the challenging conditions of climate change. In a couple of weeks (5!), the insulated cells were erected and the equipment to grow the first vegetables.Among the first species, mushrooms were selected.More than 600 species could be harvested in similar conditions. The "farm" is equipped with IoT captors to measure the daily temperature, CO2, humidity.ChampiOr is a highly replicable concept for a moderate budget, about 25.000€ for the CAPEX delivering 1 ton of vegetables per month.

    Central Europe, France, Belgium
Supply of biomass as renewable fuel for the biobased economy i.e. reenwable energy, biofuels 2nd, biochelmistry. Activities have started in Central Europe.Development of in house technology of mini mills (transportable version to operate "where the biomass is") and now the second generation, the "Micromill" (8T/h of briquettes or 3-4T/h of pellets). Atonomous power generation.Establishment of energy crops (switchgrass, miscanthus, salix) and biomass, Ukraine."Bad" end due to the war: the equipment was shelled in the Donbass (2014).
  • Bioheat Initiative (2Zk)
Developer, Small-Mid Scale Heat Supply (100-900Kw Th)
    Bioheat Initiative (2Zk) Aug 2014 - Sep 2017
    Benelux - Limburg
Since 2008 and its incorporation, 2ZK-Tuzetka has the aim to supply locally biomass for local energy uses. The Bioheat Initiative is the operational step forward with the sales (and/or lease for Belgium) of multibiomass boilers. These robust devices have been developed for multibiomass fuel i.e. wood AND agro biomass with a high ash content (>20%) and moisture content. The density of the biomass must exceed 200kgs/m3 (chips or pellets).Boilers are designed to supply hot water for heating and sanitary hot water (95°C). A "light" steam version (110°C) is also available. The range of boilers are developing a thermal power of 80-100-120-180-300kW with automatic feeding (20-50m3). A container version is available (100-200-300kW with 20m3 storage).in 2013-2014, the model was not working very well in Belgium: low price for gas and heating oil (mazout), shortage of biomass or at least not very predictable sourcing and very, very smooth public sector. Since 2016, municipalities have to fulfil new targets in terms of CO2 offset and renewable energy targets. More cases are now identified to relaunch the bioheat initiative.
  • Bioheat 100 - Local Energy Cluster (Lec)
    Energy Transition (In Progress) (Ukraine)
    Bioheat 100 - Local Energy Cluster (Lec) Feb 2013 - Oct 2015
    Ukraine
the potential for the use of biomass for district heating in Ukraine is extremely important and can give huge benefits to Ukraine as well as Western-Europe.Ukraine uses 9 billion m3 of Russian gas annually for district heating purposes. This is equivalent of foreign currency transactions of € 3 billion. The untapped biomass potential in Ukraine can compensate for ALL these gas imports for district heating! The key potential macro indicators are for a full energy transition dedicated to district heating:• Annual reduction in foreign currency requirement : € 2.7 billions• Annual savings in fuel cost (biomass vs. fossil: € 130millions• Creation of direct jobs (supply chain) in rural areas: 20.000 jobs• Creation of indirect jobs (boiler’s manufacturing, …): cca. 500 jobs• Annual savings in CO2 and green house gas emissions: 1,7 millions tons• Major contribution to energy independence and significant contribution to independence from foreign supplier(s)• Important stimulus of the local economy, agriculture and industry. This energy transition is moving ahead. Many municipalities are replacing outdated fossil fuel boilers by new biomass boilers. The key element in the implementation of the sustainable use of biomass is to develop a strong, reliable and sustainable upstream biomass supply chain dedicated to bioenergy purposes (district heating). A major asset to ensure a stable and sustainable supply of primary solid biofuel. The project partners have unique experience in creating and maintaining this supply chain and we consider this as the most important aspect of this project proposal. This proposal “Bioheat 100” describes a first step towards achieving the above benefits. For the implementation, we are looking for suppliers of pellets plants equipments (with creative offers)
  • 2Zk
    Project Partner Optima (Fp7)
    2Zk Feb 2011 - Sep 2014
    Mediterranean Area
The concept and ultimate objective of the OPTIMA project is to identify high-yielding perennial grasses for the Mediterranean area, within optimized production chain that will provide stable source for both biomass and new plant derived bio-products.Moreover, OPTIMA will explore the potentialities of perennial grasses on underutilized or abandoned marginal lands. An interdisciplinary approach involving physiology, biotechnology, agronomy, socio-economical and environmental analysis at different scale levels will be undertaken with the aim at tackling specific bottlenecks of perennial grasses in the Mediterranean area and to create alternative end-use chains.

The "Pellets for Power" project aimed to establish and monitor a sustainable herbaceous supply chain between Ukraine and the NL. The final purpose is the sharing of its results and to facilitate current and future activities for the benefit of stakeholders in Ukraine and elsewhere. Accordingly, the information is organized around five topics: reed, switchgrass, agricultural residues, pellets and sustainability. The project was funded by Agency NL under the Sustainable Biomass Import program in the Netherlands.
