I have worked in social welfare and child protection for over 20 years. I'm passionate about economic change for a just society, creating opportunities for young people, supporting our hospitals and emergency service staff and fighting for a fair go for all Australians.My wife Gail and I have raised and educated four children – three school aged and one just entering the workforce – and are invested in quality education and secure jobs. With an elderly mother living locally, I understand the valued role aged care services play in the community. I believe in fighting for workers’ rights and campaigning to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.Regional people deserve the same opportunities and services as those living in the cities. The current government, with the Nationals’ backing, has failed regional Australia. Cuts to childcare, aged care, schools, TAFEs and universities, high unemployment, insecure work and wage theft must stop.
