In 2020, Nipissing University conferred the degree of Doctor of Letters, honoris causa for his leadership in the field of mental health and substance use disorder.He graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Electrical Engineering Science and from Rotman School of Management's Directors Education Program (DEP38).
