I am in my final year at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) a top 20 university in the world. At UNSW I am studying International Public Health (BIPH) which has a joint program with the University of Arizona, USA. The course involves the aspect of human, environmental and psychosocial health and how it influences the individual inn the community and as well as the community in the individual. In my studies I learnt the foundation of epidemiology and biostatistics and the health of the population and their differences in the world.I have built a key interest in environmental health and how it can influence the society we live and grow as well as how built-environment can have an impact on human behaviour in health. I like how the climate can influence peopled decision and diet and how historic and external factors changed how we view health in global health issues. As well as, the smaller issues of occupational health and safety in the workforce or within our city.I have gained experience of how to analyse data and statistics as well as how the human body works in genetics and physiology as well as how to analyse and create disease programs and policies. Apart from gaining these foundational skills in my degree I have also developed time management, presentation and communication skills whilst working in retail for an Italian fashion company, Dan John. Working in a retail environment has enhanced my professional skills and confidence to which I can apply in the career of Public Health. Currently I am doing an online internship with the Australian Society for HIV, Viral hepatitis & Sexual Health medicine (ASHM). I have lived between Australia and Italy for many years and was abroad when the COVID-19 pandemic occurred. This heightened my interest in Public Health. I have gained a good understanding of how people are different and are influenced by a vast array of variables. I gained this insight in my degree of Bachelor of International Public Health (BIPH) and working in retail in Florence, Italy. I speak two languages and would love to learn more about people, their health and cultures.
