Manuscripts Processing Archivist
Current●Set collection priorities, including identifying collections that support current SCUA strengths and opportunities for growth; select collections for processing ●Cultivate relationships with new and existing donors to acquire relevant collections●Evaluate potential physical and digital manuscript collections to accession ●Arrange and describe collections using archival best practices, including physical collections, digital collections, and hybrid (physical and digital) collections, to ensure long-term preservation and access●Create online description and discovery tools for collections in ArchivesSpace and Archon, including finding aids, accession records, metadata, and creator notes ●Collaborate with faculty to identify research opportunities with manuscript collections●Teach multiple class sessions each semester, providing instruction on primary sources and archival research, using SAA’s Guidelines for Primary Source Literacy; complete class assessment●Act as system administrator for department’s digital finding aids in ArchivesSpace, including supervising migration and cleanup of data from Archon●Oversee department’s Born Digital Records Management (BDRM) platform; collaborate with staff to ensure long-term preservation of born digital materials●Collaborate with the Digital Projects Coordinator to identify digitization projects relating to manuscript collections ●Serve as student worker supervisor for the department, managing and mentoring approximately 10 student workers per semester; personally supervise and mentor approximately 3 students per semester in the manuscript area, including departmental student workers, volunteers, and interns●Curate exhibits●Provide reference support – work reference desk shifts, including face-to-face, virtual, and phone reference●Serve on University Libraries’ Diversity Committee, Social Committee, and Student Employee Professional Development Team
