I provide care and support for clinical trial patients primarily in Cardiology trials ensuring their safety is maintained at all times as well as being an advocate for my patients ensuring their well-being and rights are upheld in accordance with Good Clinical Practice and the NMC Code of Conduct. I facilitate patient study visits and carry out study specific tasks such as phlebotomy, biological sample handling & processing, ECG recording, vital signs assessments, telephone/remote follow up appointments, completing CRF's and timely safety reporting if required. I always strive to ensure the data collected is accurate, of good quality and is handled and stored securely in accordance with UK General Data Protection Regulation. I work within the research delivery team but liaise regularly with my research governance team colleagues as well as various support services such as the clinical trials pharmacy team, imaging department, cardiology diagnostics dept and a number of courier companies for the collection and delivery of biological samples. I liaise regularly with study sponsors to facilitate: site initiation visits, onsite monitoring visits and study close out visits.

I facilitate patient study visits and carry out study specific tasks such as phlebotomy, biological sample handling & processing, vital signs assessments, telephone/remote follow up appointments, completing CRF's and timely safety reporting if required. Provide nursing care for patients undergoing various procedures such as, Angiogram/Angioplasty which includes 24 hour Primary PCIcover, Device Implantation, DC Cardioversion, TOE, Pericardiocentesis and Mitral Valvuloplasty.Work on call shifts overnight to provide 24 hour Primary PCI cover as first nurse.As first nurse administer emergency medications and CPR in emergency situations.Administer medications to patients undergoing procedures.Assisting in angioplasty procedures as a scrub nurse.Using Aseptic technique when providing necessary equipment to cath lab operators.Maintaining a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and checking of equipment.Working and communicating effectively with doctors, cardiac physiologists and radiographers to provide excellent care.Provide emotional support for patients undergoing procedures.Using a number of IT systems to create clear and accurate documentation of any patients under my care.Coordinate cath lab lists through communicating with cardiology wards (inpatient and elective).Provide training, information and support for junior nurses, student nurses and medical students.Rotate regularly to Cardiology Day Case Unit and provide care for elective patients which includes admission/discharge, pre and postprocedural monitoring and documentation, cannulation/venepuncture, medication administration.

Provide nursing care to a range of cardiology patients through administering medications, recording of vital signs, caring for patients oncontinuous cardiac monitoring, providing relevant information and advice when required.Assessing patients using the ABCDE approach and escalating any concerns promptly.Ensuring patients have any assistance they may need with activities of daily living.Attending ward rounds and liaising with doctors, pharmacists, cardiac rehab nurses, heart failure nurses, physiotherapists and HCA's.Providing care for ACS patients that are undergoing PCI pre and post procedure.Caring for patients undergoing; cardiac device implantation such as pacemakers, DC Cardioversion, TOE.Caring for patients awaiting cardiac surgery and for patients with heart failure.Keeping clear and accurate documentation on patients in my care.Admitting and discharging patients.Mentoring and assessing student nurses by providing information and demonstrating and supervising clinical tasks to help facilitatelearning.Rotating to the Cardiac Cath Lab and Cardiology Day Case Unit.
