As the Founder and Former Owner of JankBoards LLC, my mission was to provide the Fort Collins, Colorado community with a fun, reliable, and efficient mode of transportation. Specializing in electric-powered longboards, I delved into the technical intricacies of component selection, drawing insights from detailed datasheet analysis to identify the best parts for our boards.Through rigorous research and evaluation, I navigated the complexities of brushless DC motors and 3-phase speed controllers, ensuring optimal compatibility and performance. This involved in-depth programming and fine-tuning to achieve seamless integration of motor control systems, enhancing both efficiency and rider experience.In addition to my work with electronics, I also embraced 3D printing technology as a vital aspect of the production process. Utilizing CAD software, I designed and prototyped various components, leveraging 3D printing to rapidly iterate and refine designs. This hands-on approach allowed for greater flexibility and customization, ultimately contributing to the unique character and performance of our longboards.While the journey with JankBoards was a tremendous learning experience, it was not without its challenges. Despite the dedication and effort invested, the venture faced costly roadblocks that ultimately led to the difficult decision to cease operations after developing and refining the first few final prototypes. Nonetheless, each obstacle presented an opportunity for growth and improvement, contributing to my personal and professional development.
