Three new property development projects.

Bruton Knowles’ Managing Partner Patrick Downes has informed the partnership that he intends to retire from the firm’.Patrick has been with the firm for 35 years, the last 14 years holding the post of Managing Partner or its equivalent, during which he has been pivotal in growing the firm from its regional roots into a national commercial property consultancy practice with 13 offices.Patrick commented:‘I have enjoyed working at Bruton Knowles and have delivered growth in terms of scale and geographical reach during my 14 years as managing partner. I am proud of my achievements of having led the firm through the difficult period of the recession. I wish the firm well over the coming years’. Patrick has managed to combine a commercial approach to business whilst ensuring that our staff and clients have been prioritised throughout. He will be a very hard act to follow’.

Working with clients and delivering services in the Utilities, SME's/Commercial, Charities and Public sector.I work with colleagues, contacts and other practices to continue to grow the business in an organic and sustainable manner. Working closely with my fellow Partners I set and monitor our strategy for the development of our business and work closely with all our business leaders and teams to deliver. My role encourages the motivation of our people to give first class service delivery to our clients, to ensure proper client satisfaction and also to attract high quality new recruits to join the Firm.Strategic business relationships with like-minded organisations is a key part of our plan for growth; I integrate with forward-thinking teams and firms wishing to grow and extend their service offering, enabling closer working ties through Joint Ventures and Corporate Partnerships. By working with key people in all of our 13 offices, and regions, I am responsible for the development of our business throughout the UK particularly England and Wales but extending to Scotland and Ireland. I Chair and manage our Strategic Development Team as well as our Executive team.We do not employ the services of recruitment agencies but choose to employ people through direct relationships and through advertising. Managing our approach to the sector, and developing our client base, ensuring all our Partners manage our existing clients effectively, understand their needs, and respond properly to them.For nearly 9 years I managed our Compulsory Purchase and Compensation team which I developed from 5 to 18 people. I proactively developed our client relationships and 'how we do business' by use of people skills, property skills and systemised procedures resulting in significant new business for the firm with companies and clients such as Thames Water, Welsh Water, the MoD, East Midlands Electricity, Transco, National Grid, and Wessex Water.

As Operations Partner I was tasked with managing all operations throughout the firm, covering 6 offices, including HR, Quality, IT and systemisation, and business/team management. The role was one of five roles on our Executive team responsible for running and developing the business.Whilst delivering in this role I maintained key relationships with both Utilities and Transportation clients and I continued to Head the Sector and develop new contracts.
