Patrick Dunstan Email and Phone Number
I have dedicated my adult life to community service, through Rovers and Scouts, the ADF, and by keeping kids and adults safe in the water as a swim teacher. While I enjoy engaging in big ideas and breaking down complex issues to help build understanding, my pride has been in the practical outcomes I’ve delivered for the organisations and people that I’ve helped. I promise my positive, but pragmatic perspective will be a valuable addition to any organisation or team that wants to make a difference to members, customers or their community.I learn through challenge, debate and by embracing new ideas and opportunities, sometimes far outside of my comfort zone This has built my resilience, maturity and my awareness. I am keenly interested in a broad range of subjects, beyond my studies in media and the environment. My love of philosophy and my experience in project management equip me to embrace diversity, encourage different opinions and debate ideas, with the goal of inclusion, synergy and achieving the best outcomes. My experience in marketing and communications helps me engage both the mind and heart, and can motivate people to action. Working within the system to create positive change has been my mantra, at Scouts, UNSW and in other roles, but I have much to learn. My ideas and success so far stand on the “shoulders of giants”, on ancient philosophies, recent thinkers, and a diversity of mind, culture and experience. I offer: • Project management and teamwork, bringing people together with purpose• Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal, written, reports, technology and multi-media)• Strives to understand human and organisational needs and challenges• Independently motivated to solve problems through research & collaboration• Committed to service, working with people to improve understanding and systems, to help achieve important social, environment and organisational goals.• Breadth of interests, bringing together media, culture, technology, environmental humanities and philosophy, to help teams, organisations and communities

‘Green Jobs’ Student Education Project Lead, Environmental Collective UnswUnsw Feb 2020 - Sep 2020Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaPurpose: I discovered students were caught between fears about climate change, and the practical need for secure future work. I saw this as an opportunity to fight for a clear future, and produced a webinar event that aimed to bring students, isolated by lockdowns, together with leading employers and researchers, so that they could develop a vision of constructive and responsible future. Achievements: When UNSW locked down during my first semester at UNSW, I approached influential speakers, employers and researchers, to create an agenda for a program that would help students be more positive and proactive. I then used social media and other resources to promote the webinar online and then chaired the event. Attendees and speakers gained useful contacts and renewed optimism and rated the program highly. I built personal efficacy, confidence, connections and skills during the difficult lockdown period. This demonstrates my proactive approach to finding and delivery collaborative solutions, that help create a better future. -
