Oversee global engagement programs for undergraduate students at Northwestern's Buffett Institute for Global Affairs. Drive strategic planning to develop a short- and long-range vision for global engagement programs, in consultation with key staff. Maintain mutually beneficial and effective relationships with Buffett Institute's partners abroad. Support fundraising and development, donor relations and stewardship. Drive the creation of new initiatives during an exciting period of growth at the Buffett Institute.Direct the Global Engagement Studies Institute (GESI), an innovative study abroad program which integrates rigorous academic coursework with experiential learning through 8 weeks of international fieldwork. Students live in homestays and work in interdisciplinary teams in one of six countries to collaborate on community-driven, sustainable development projects with grassroots organizations abroad. Increased underrepresented student participation in GESI, including 1/2 that are Pell-eligible, 1/3 first-generation and 70% students of color--nearly a reversal of national trends in study abroad.GESI was recognized with the 2015 Excellence in Diversifying International Education (EDIE) award from the Diversity Abroad Network for outstanding contributions to access, diversity, and inclusion in international education and exchange. In 2016, GESI received an AshokaU-Cordes Innovation Award for social innovation in higher education. In 2022, GESI received the NAFSA Senator Paul Simon Spotlight Award and the Institute for International Education (IIE) Heiskell Award in recognition of its pivot to a virtual program framework that extended access to international education opportunities, maintained continuity in global partnerships and enhanced collaborative teaching and learning during and beyond the pandemic.Convene university-wide working group to build a community of practice for community engaged scholarship.
