Senior Design Project Team Member
- Cooperatively managed the project planning, research, design, budget, fundraising, purchasing, fabrication, prototype testing, and reporting of a semi-autonomous lawn mower.- Operated as team liaison to facilitate project fundraising, enabling the team to meet budgetary goals. Coordinated university, professional, and donor relations to achieve fundraising objective.- Formulated power and torque requirements for both the device’s blade and wheel motors, allowing team to make an accurate and cost-effective decision on the purchasing of said components. From attained motor requirements, the project’s batteries were precisely selected.- Developed in-depth 3D CAD model of lawn mower using Autodesk Inventor.- Performed structural design calculations and finite element analysis verification using Ansys on disturbing factors of the project’s design.- Gained experience with various manufacturing and welding techniques while working in Saint Louis University’s machine shop throughout the project’s fabrication stage. - Collaborated with team during the system integration and troubleshooting of the design’s electrical and mechanical subsystems.- Executed prototype testing and engineered design modifications based on testing results.- Contributed to the technical reporting and presentation of the yearlong project. Project reporting consisted of project progression, results, and hypothetical business plan for volume production. Presented to peers, professors, and industry professionals.
