As a Postdoctoral Researcher at Rutgers University, I am continuing my passion for plant biology and protein engineering, with a focus on developing antifungal proteins for fungal disease control. I have a PhD in Plant Biology from Rutgers University, where I conducted cutting-edge research on characterizing and expressing antifungal proteins using multiple expression systems (fungal, yeast, and bacterial). I also work on quantifying both fungal and plant DNA from turfgrass samples using both qPCR and dPCR. This requires the development and validation of primers and probes. My research has resulted in two publications in Microorganisms and the Journal of Fungi, demonstrating my ability to communicate complex scientific concepts and findings to a broad audience. I have also gained extensive experience and skills in various molecular biology and protein purification techniques, such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, transformation, cloning, column chromatography, SDS PAGE, and antifungal activity assays. In addition, I have honed my teaching and leadership skills as a Teaching Assistant for the Molecular Genetics lab course for five years, where I revamped the assignments and grading rubric, and mentored undergraduate students.
