Patrick Foley is an independent consultant and non executive director. He was formerly a Senior Advisor in the financial services sector at Marakon, a strategy advisory firm with offices in New York, London, Houston, Boston and Chicago. He joined in 2016. Before that Patrick was the Group Strategy Director and Chief Economist at Lloyds Banking Group. At Lloyds, Patrick advised the board and senior management on strategic and economic developments and on ‘strategic’ economic issues. He directed two teams: one develops group and business unit strategy and the other provides economic analysis and forecasting for the Group.During his first period as Strategy Director (1993-1998) Lloyds TSB was the top performing bank in the world in shareholder value creation, and by 1998 had become the largest bank in the world measured by market value. In his second period as Director of Group Strategy and Corporate Development (2003-2008), he was responsible for the strategy that turned round Lloyds TSB from being ex-growth in 2002 to a market-leading position five years later, prior to the acquisition of HBOS. During that time, Patrick also had responsibility for Lloyds TSB Strategic Ventures, which developed a number of successful new business opportunities for the Group.
