I always thought I’d be a teenage mutant ninja turtle, or a ghost buster. But when both of these options fell through, I settled on the third best thing – project management. As a project manager, and ex rugby player, teamwork is what makes me tick. I’ve seen how enthusiasm and positivity can transform and foster a high-preforming culture and believe that it’s at the core of project success. My most recent experience in consulting has helped me finesse the art of integration. My job is to solve complex situations, as fast as we can, then control the chaos. Which is, when I think about it, not that dissimilar to the ninja turtles and the ghost busters.. Key to a successful project is to source the right people with the right attitude. Technical skills can be learnt overtime but it's mindset and attitude with clear objectives that separates the good from great teams. I have learned this in both my professional and personal life. Here is my fool proof equation for success (Attitude + Mindset) x Clear Objectives + Leadership = Success. When I'm not creating a Gantt chart, writing tender documents, project reports, utilising my creative writing skills responding to bids or ''putting out fires'', I utilise my spare time to my full advantage and schedule it like a like a mission. This results in spending quality time with my amazing wife walking together and going to our favorite cafes, running for hours in the mountains preparing for the next ultra-marathon, perfecting my archery skills while smashing through audiobooks or listening to inspiring podcasts. Once I've burned all my spare energy I like to think of myself as an above average cook and experiment with new recipes or re-watch any David Attenborough documentary.
