Experienced international business development executive with over 15 years of full P&L responsibility for market leading packaging businesses - including Groupe Guillin’s UK food packaging businesses (£130m t/o & 600+ empl.) or DS Smith's Automotive bespoke plastic packaging businesses in France and Slovakia. Following a brief career - but life changing experience - as submariner in the French Navy, I gained extensive international management experience in commercial and general management roles with Corning and DS Smith before joining Group Guillin in 2012.My strengths include:- Strategy and leadership experience encompasses business growth, project management, restructuring, diversification, distribution, and M&A in a variety of international situations.- Culture experience on an international basis from leadership roles across Europe, Asia, India and the USA. In my most recent role, embedding the Guillin culture of open minded, ethical, collaboration and innovation throughout the UK management team.- Packaging experience which developed from 2007 when I had full multi-site management responsibility for a bespoke industrial packaging production site (€12m and 60 employees) in France and a Greenfield project / then successful industrial business in Slovakia - both serving the Automotive industry (assembly sites and their Tier 1 & 2 suppliers). - NPD and Innovation experience developed from 1986 with 20 product launches at Corning. NPD has been a recurring responsibility throughout my career. A large part of my recent past with Guillin Group includes championing significant NPD partnerships and product launches within the group.– Partnerships with clients and suppliers have been important to me throughout my career, across Europe and also with companies in China. Very proud of leading the Guillin group involvement with the Prevented Ocean Plastics project which, over only 2 years, prevented over 800 million plastic bottles from entering our oceans.- Fostering a positive, can-do attitude in teams placed under my responsibility, based on empowerment, trust and creativity.

    I was asked to head up the UK division for Groupe Guillin in 2017 after 5 years leading another business in the group. In this role I have full P&L responsibility for Groupe Guillin’s UK industrial businesses (4 manufacturing sites, £130m t/o, > 600 employees in 2019), which is about 20% of the group turnover.It’s a fascinating time to be in the food sector. The food packaging industry is clearly under pressure from the environmental angle, but there is a good story to tell, supported by facts. And we’re finding and creating new opportunities as food retailers develop new products to meet changing and evolving consumer demand & tastes.Missions:- Develop and implement growth strategy based on product innovation and new market development. Sales growth +30%, 2017 to 2019, to £130m.- Identify and pursue external growth opportunities in strategic segments. Two acquisitions completed : Ready meals UK business in June 2018, UK Extrusion site in May 2019.- Implement group’s sustainability policy in UK. Active member of BPS Rigid Packaging Management Committee. Initiated group-wide partnership with Ocean Cycle / Prevented Ocean Plastics, a major sustainability and social responsibility project – especially significant in areas where there’s limited/no recycling.- Hire, coach, retain management talent. Ongoing leadership restructuring at the protein packaging business and main manufacturing site. New management team hired and new strategy being implemented.- Develop and embed the cultural values in the group. Guillin is a family business started in France with a solid pan-European presence. Curiosity and innovation is central to its founding and continued growth. Ethical, collaborative and open-minded are three other key qualities of the group.     Full management of bespoke industrial packaging production site and leading the turnaround from loss to profitability. This €12m, 60 employee site’s primary business was thermoforming of returnable packaging for Automotive and Electronics markets.Missions: • Restructure and turn-around of a loss making unit. Re-structured company (sales, design, accounting). • Define and implement 3-year strategic plan. One element of which was to open a German sales office. • Create and lead pan-European sales team (KAM, agents, resellers). Sales growth +30%, New strategic customers: BMW, Fiat, Samsung, P&G. • Financial results was to turn from an €850k loss to a €550k profit over 5 years, during the infamous 2009-2010 financial crash. Cashflow and working capital also improved significantly.

    Responsible for creation of new business sales and commissioning this production site in Slovakia Investment by the DS Group was €2.2m to create the extrusion capability to produce plastic packaging for diversified markets incl Automotive and Telco /Consumer Electronics. Sales grew from 0 to €8.5m over 3 years.I started this role as a feasibility project in 2006, while I was Commercial Director at Kaysersberg. I opened a sales office + conversion workshop in 2007 and the official entity for DS Smith Slovakia was created. Capex for a full industrial site was secured mid 2007 and the new factory commissioned in August 2008. From November 2007 when I took on the Ducaplast MD job in northern France till May 2011 when I handed over the Slovakian management position, I was running both business units and commuting between sites. Missions : • Complete the production-readiness of the site, from project management, hiring and training of employees, strategic commercial planning. Production site ready in 11 months, on time, in budget. • Personal sales leadership in Key Customers acquisition. Won new gbusiness contracts with PSA, KIA, SAMSUNG. Led sales growth from 0 to 8.5 M€, with profitability of 6.5 % over 3 years. • Second investment phase validated, manufacturing hall extension and capacity increase – completed in October 2011. • Hired and coached team of 35 employees, including my successor. Handed over in May 2011.
