Developing Magnetic Particle Imaging, a new type of medical imaging that will be useful for safe and rapid angiography and the ultra-sensitive tracking of tagged cells. My work includes the day-to-day management of students, hardware and software development, and grant writing. So far, our MPI work has raised over 9 million dollars in federal and state grant funding.

As a graduate student at UC Berkeley / UCSF Bioengineering, I developed magnetic imaging techniques with an expertise in Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). In MPI, I developed two fundamental theories of MPI, the narrowband and x-space techniques. To test these theories, I built multiple generations of MPI scanners including non-imaging relaxometer systems for measuring nanoparticle dynamics, two small-scale "histology" scanners, and two generations of mouse-sized scanners.

Circuit designer in high-profile, high-pressure functional and speedpath debug of next generation .13um IA-64 microprocessor running at 1.8Ghz with 9MB cache. Extensive work with silicon probing tools used during speedpath debug. Departmental award for proactively driving prototype debug tools for speedpath debug, Laser Assisted Device Alteration and Time Resolved Emissions. Circuit design engineer in tight knit cell-based design team for next generation IA-64 processor on a .09um process running at over 2Ghz with 12MB of cache.
