I worked as a Legal Assistant as part of a sales and purchase team, focusing solely on residential conveyancing.I initially assisted a fee earner in all aspects of post-completion work on her files, including completing SDLT forms and applying for registration at the Land Registry. This required good attention to detail and organisational skills in making sure that deadlines were met.I was transferred to the Training Academy where I passed the first module of training.Whilst participating in the second module I then assisted another fee earner with all aspects of her work from instruction to post-completion. This required good time management as well as good spoken communication skills.

I worked as a Client Advocate, managing between 100 and 150 clients on debt repayment plans. I was responsible for ensuring that they worked to a budget which was also agreed with their creditors, and negotiated on their behalf in this regard. This demanded good organisational and prioritisation skills, and good spoken communication skills both with creditors and clients, over the telephone. As an Intern I also progressed two bespoke projects: the first was a project networking and making contact with key banking industry representatives for the major banks as part of a fundraising project; the second the design of a internal compliance structure in connection with the awarding of an Australian Credit Licence.

I assisted the Insolvency team on an administrative basis, arranging telephone appointments with advisors, and working with clients and caseworkers to make sure that all paperwork/fees were in order for the advisors to take the clients through the bankruptcy/DRO forms. I also assisted in providing an initial assessment to clients on the best insolvency route. I was also primarily responsible for obtaining credit reports and managed the administrative procedure in this regard. I also assisted the Specialist Advice team with ad hoc research and data compiling tasks. As a Reach Intern I participated in a weekly leadership and management training which involved group discussions, presentations and teamwork skills.
