Jena Area, Germany

I have joined Friedrich Schiller University Jena to continue my research on language development of (primarily) adolescent multilingual students in the German secondary school system. Further topics will be the integration and support of newly arrived children and adolescents and general questions of multilingualism and second language acquisition and language development. Main responsibilities at the "Institut für Auslandsgermanistik & Interkulturelle Wirtschaftskommunikation" include teaching in the new M.A. programme "German as a Second/Foreign Language as an additional subject" for teachers / teacher students of all subjects. I have now changed to a post as post doctoral researcher at the Department for German at Hamburg University. My responsibilities include research and teaching in the areas of German Linguistics, second language acquisition, German as a Second or Foreign Language. I am also working with some schools in Hamburg on issues concerning multilingual classrooms. I am still cooperating with the research network LiMA: Linguistic Diversity Management in Urban Areas. LiMA as such aims at better understanding the effects of multilingualism on society and economy of urban centres such as the city of Hamburg. See also www.lima.uni-hamburg.de !

Paderborn, Germany

At Paderborn University I have held a position of a Professor in German as a Second / Foreign Language for six months.

I worked as a human factors researcher - with a focus on information flow and communication topics - with the Aerospace Psychology Research Group. I did research on organisational and communication processes in the aviation industry and on emergency response.
