My responsibilities were: - Programme Manager for the UK Overseas Territories Blue Belt Programme of marine protection. I guided the Programme as part of the Steering Group; I led on reporting and financial management, introducing simpler processes and meeting all reporting requirements; and I engaged with Territories wishing to join the Programme, with the result that four new Territories joined within two years.- Member of UK Delegation to the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), the multilateral body responsible for conservation in the Southern Ocean. I ensured that the UK met its obligations under CCAMLR. I attended five annual meetings, and I was the UK representative in the CCAMLR sub-committee on Administration and Finance, successfully delivering UK priorities.- Member of the Advisory Group for Darwin Plus, UK Government scheme funding projects which protect biodiversity and improve resilience to climate change in the Overseas Territories. I assessed project proposals and provided recommendations to senior officials and Ministers on which projects should be funded, working with other members of the Advisory Group.I supported various other work across my Directorate; I was also part of the Directorate crisis team.

I managed a busy diary and inbox, prioritising effectively and building strong relationships. I took accurate minutes in senior meetings, and I managed action and risk logs; and I drafted correspondence for the Director General. I provided cover in the Secretary of State’s office during a period when they were severely short-staffed. I also shadowed the Air Quality and Maritime teams.

I managed the database of humanitarian projects funded by the charity, and I coordinated a renovation of this database working with a consultant. I provided administrative support across the organisation, including assisting with fundraising and event organisation.
