Hello, my name is Patrick Hanifan. I’ve been in the trades since 2011. After high school I almost immediately went to Wyotech in Long Beach to study HVAC where I earned valedictorian for the group of classes I graduated with. I first started working at Mike Diamond after graduation but soon quit and started at a mom and pop shop called grand heating and air conditioning. I worked as a service tech there for a few years and then went to work at another residential company that focused more on sales. After about a year there I went into refrigeration at VL Shaw that focused on market refrigeration (trader joes and whole foods), as well as restaurants and other small markets. When the hours dried up, I found a position as a service tech in the west los angeles branch of ACCO. I joined the apprenticeship program in the local 250 after a year at ACCO. In my 3rd year of the apprenticeship and ACCO, I left to become a building engineer with Hines at playa vista in the local 501. Within a year I became BOMA certified. After about 2 years I was hired by Able Engineering to work at sunset bronson studios but after a few months I left to work with servi-tek at 2 high rise buildings in burbank where I am currently.
