I was responsible for developing DNA markers and other similar projects using KASPar PCR. I used equipment such as Hamilton dispenser, Meridian assay dispenser, and Bravo liquid handling platform. I performed DNA quantification using either a nanodrop spectrophotometer or pico green quantitation assay. I also maintained an electronic record of all projects in which I was involved.

As a lab tech I, my primary duty with the company was the collection of samples for microbiological and chemical analysis. The samples were analyzed to make sure that the samples were within FDA limits for chlorine, iron, calcium carbonate, total coliform, and bacterial colony formations. I also followed guidelines established by standard operating procedures for the routine weekly and monthly cleaning of the lab equipment. The monthly cleaning involved the sanitization of the incubators, refrigerators, biological safety cabinets, and the autoclave. The weekly cleaning involved the removal of dust from stability chambers, checking the status of equipment filters, and the verification of safety equipment such as the eye wash station. I also performed review of my peers’ work, created standard operating procedures for the operation and maintenance of two pieces of equipment used within the lab, and worked with members of the sanitation, production, and quality departments to complete assignments given to me by the lab management.
