The ANSI/IICRC S520 Standard for Professional Mold Remediation is the only American National Standards Institute (ANSI) recognized mold remediation standard in the world. This standard is produced and managed by the Institute for Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). This S520 Consensus Board (CB) is a group of 23 industry professionals chosen to "update"​ the standard for a new release set for 2020. The CB is tasked with a full review of the entire standard, reviewing each individual section and making any necessary changes based on information obtained by CB board members, public comment and input from other industry professionals. The S520 is the "gold standard"​ for Indoor Environmental Professionals (IEP) and remediation firms that strive to perform legitimate and "litigious free"​ remediation projects.
