I started my journey in the construction industry, working alongside my father, George Healey, a general contractor, from a young age. During this time, I gained valuable experience and developed a strong work ethic. While assisting my father in building tract homes, I had the opportunity to connect with professionals from various fields.This transformative experience ignited a deep desire within me to make a positive difference in people's lives. It inspired me to transition into the field of social work, where I could combine my passion for helping others with my expertise in building strong foundations. I enrolled in a Sociology program and immersed myself in studies encompassing diverse areas such as human behavior, social justice, and community engagement.Throughout my academic journey, I actively engaged with various initiatives and organizations that promote social equity and well-being. I participated in the Ethnic Studies Department, where I gained insights into the experiences and challenges faced by marginalized communities. As a recipient of the prestigious Mellon Grant, the Social Justice and Storytelling Institute, which I had the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that amplify unheard voices and promote inclusivity.Furthermore, I dedicated my time to Project Rebound, an organization committed to supporting individuals whom the criminal justice system has impacted. Working as part of the federal work-study program, I provided valuable assistance and guidance to those striving to rebuild their lives. This experience reinforced my belief in the transformative power of compassion, resilience, and empowerment.My journey has instilled in me a profound understanding of the importance of empathy, cultural competence, and advocating for social change. I am committed to promoting social justice, dismantling systemic barriers, and empowering individuals and communities. With a strong foundation in craftsmanship and a passion for making a positive impact, I am now eager to leverage my skills and knowledge in the field of social work to contribute meaningfully to the well-being and empowerment of those in need.I am currently seeking opportunities where I can apply my expertise in counseling, advocacy, and community engagement.
