Sr. Staff Engineer - Platform Development
❖ Collect and define inputs from key stakeholders for drafting and release of PRD/PRS documentation for high volume platform❖ Drafting of FMEA and DFMEA documentation for mechanical and electrical sub-sections of next-gen platforms along with drafting of risk management/mitigation documentation❖ Design and fabrication of alpha and beta prototypes of fully enclosed (non-pipette dispensing), portable DNA Oligo synthesis system for DARPA to be used in harsh environments. Design allowed for 40 unique oligos chains to be synthesized simultaneously with predetermined recipes. Unit was completely portable (0.5 x 0.5 x 0.375m) only requiring one 120V power outlet.❖ Design of prototype and implementation of custom orbital heater/shaker/cooler system using Peltier heating elements and stepper driven orbital shaker using magnetics to keep stability while shaking a mass of 1kg at 2500rpm, with 3mm off-center axis of revolution.❖ Design of test fixturing for testing efficiency of flow rate and liquid retention of various frits/filters/well-plates (Vmax)❖ Liquid handling, temperature, and evacuation repetitive testing to determine updated design inputs for fluid in 384-well plates – Included efficiency of vacuum, keeping well contents from draining, temperature ramp times, mixing with orbital shaker efficiency❖ Down-selection of key components for oligo synthesis and implementation of 3rd party custom pipette dispensing systems to use with our own custom heating/shaking/cooling fluidics system.❖ Weekly communication and meetings with 3rd party vendors for mechanical implementation of custom well plates and custom dispensing systems with +/- 1.5 uL accuracy per dispense
