Serve as a Research Scientist | Epidemiologist in the Division of Evaluation, Analysis and Quality in the Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality (CBHSQ) managing a portfolio of projects related to suicide, military related populations, access to mental health facilities, social determinants of health and their relationship between communities and behavioral health (i.e., substance abuse and mental health) outcomes and conduct methods development, data analysis, writing and publication development and identification of behavioral health indicators and the development and publication of the SAMHSA Behavioral Health Barometers portfolio.

Function as a subject matter expert in epidemiology providing methodological reviews and scientific rigor for program evaluation and the information collection initiative within the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (DCoE) to initially evaluate 167 Department of Defense psychological heath programs. - Acted as Deputy Program Manager and managed subject matter experts from various technical backgrounds to develop and implement methodology for the information collection of approximately 167 psychological health programs within the DoD- Provide leadership and direction to staff members for execution, review and finalization of work products - Advise DCoE and other stakeholders on all aspects of information collection and program evaluation methodology, data collection and synthesis- Develop and conduct presentations to DCoE leadership, the Deployment Health Clinical Center, - - Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center and Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center- Developed novel program evaluation rapid methodology- Developed program evaluation measures and metrics- Developed program evaluation data collection tools - Lead and conduct program evaluation methodology training of contract staff- Lead all technical aspects of program evaluation from development of rapid methodology, measures and metrics, collection tools, conducting site visit to synthesis and analysis of information collected, database creation and storage of information- Lead development of standard quality control measures of data collection, database input, review and synthesis- Lead program evaluation team during preparation, execution of site visits and data synthesis, analysis and development of evaluation report- Lead development of identifying attributes of program effectiveness scoring methodology

The Force Risk Reduction (FR2) program is supported by the Defense Safety Oversight Council (DSOC) Executive Secretary in the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, Operations Research and Safety (OUSD (P&R) OR&S) to obtain data on Service Member readiness issues within the Department.- Support the Department’s Suicide Prevention Office (DSPO) as epidemiologist and subject matter expert on suicide- Lead review of the suicide literature to include military suicides and research- Prepared several white papers on suicide in the military and proposed updates on calculating the suicide death rates within the Department- Serve as a member of the DSPO Suicide Prevention and Risk Reduction Committee - Developed methodology for “case-ifying” military injury data that incorporates the Barell Matrix- Lead the Military Injury data integration and case-ification of Military Health System (MHS) TRICARE Management Activity (TMA) data which includes the Standard Ambulatory Data Record (SADR), Standard In-patient Data Record (SIDR), TRICARE Encounter Data - Institutional (TEDI) and TRICARE Encounter Data – Non-Institutional (TED-NI) and consists of approximately 64 million records combined - Developed methodology on grouping Civilian Lost Time (CLT) and Safety First Electronic Reporting (SaFER) injury cases within the DoD- Lead the CLT and SaFER data integration- Conducted surveillance of lost time among Civilian personnel within the Department- Update and review DSOC Military Injury metrics monthly for dissemination to the OUSD (P&R) OR&S, the DSOC and other Offices within the Department collaborate with analysts, developers and the OUSD (P&R) OR&S staff members to improve data conformity across multiple data sources - Translate findings from data analysis into briefings, presentations and conclusions for distribution to the OUSD (P&R) OR&S and other offices within the Department

Wrote, edited, updated and reviewed study protocol and associated study documents and prepared, coordinated and tracked Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) submissions as required. Additionally, developed the study design plans, interviewer scripts, protocol of interviewer operations to include telephone research center operations and contact tracing as required.

Biostatistics consultant. Responsible for intake of completed questionnaires, created and maintained study database, conducted methodological review and prepared reports for publication of statistical analysis.

Treatment Platoon Leader overseeing approximately 60 enlisted and noncommissoned medical specialists in military and specialty training.

Ambulance squad leader and directly oversaw and conducted medical and military training of approximately five to seven enlisted service members within the squad and the entire company on an ad-hoc basis.

Intern. Responded to telephone inquiries from general residents and communicated with local health departments and tracked state policies related to West Nile Virus (WNV).
