In this position I am responsible for installing, maintaining, commissioning, decommissioning, repairing, and replacing VSAT communications equipment on land, offshore rigs, and vessels. I work on various types of equipment including stabilized Spacetrack, auto-acquire Winegard, and fixed antennas and related equipment including phones, networks and cabling. My responsibilities also include maintaining accurate records, managing equipment, assisting the Build & Test department, and supporting general logistics. While performing my job duties I maintain and improve customer relations, and support the sales group in promotion of new equipment. I support operations engineering in troubleshooting phone and network issues, and provide support to customer IT groups. I have taken multiple courses to support safety objectives and customer requirements. My work supports long-term projects and company objectives.

In this position I was responsible for the VSAT on multiple bases in Afghanistan. I supervised two employees while monitoring a network of 500+ desktops for security and performed user support. I also supervised region-wide logistics for around 20 bases including shipping and receiving for information technology and communication equipment, and keeping accurate reports and records. I successfully troubleshooted and assisted other technicians over the phone for VSAT issues within the contracted amount of required downtime, while maintaining confidentiality of government customer information. In this position I also traveled to multiple bases to supervise relocation of antennas as well as change them from C-band to KU-band and vice-versa, and decommissioned multiple locations. This position required extreme attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping due to the nature and requirements of the client.

In this position my original duties were to create user accounts on active directory, create user storage space, support 300 users with Windows XP problems, support 30 servers with updates and maintenance and support the Fire Support Engineer Division (FSED) project on a part time basis. After a year of working on the corporate network, I was transferred to the FSED project. My duties included providing support to over 400 desktops, maintaining software, and running the help desk. My help desk duties included answering phone calls for help, responding to and escalating tickets. Other duties included deploying Windows Vista computers on a daily basis to new employees and operating system rebuilds. I worked with the system admin group to migrate over 500 desktops from Windows XP to Windows Vista, completing the project in two weeks. I also worked on the pre-stages of migrating to Windows 7 OS.

The requirements for these machines were to keep them up-to-date with the latest software patches, anti-virus, and new hardware requirement installs. Other duties were Information Assurance Security Officer, and train brigade staff on new software.
