Responsible for identifying high ecological sensitive habitats for various species of flora and fauna and site management.The land trust manages over 95,000 acres of conserved land with over 300 different parcels of land in 11 different states (primarily in the southeast).Responsible for fee simple land management, including formation and execution active management plans for over 45 different parcels of land. These management plans include: outlining areas of potential silviculture activities, wildlife green areas, road systems, demarcation of property boundaries, while preserving areas deemed critical habitats and resource protection areas (RPAs). These management plans determine potential site productivity, including agricultural based, silviculture activities, aquacultural or for educational/public usage while using Best Management Practices (BMPs) and following regulations at the federal, state and local levels. The management planning helps categorize sites based on site potential and feasibility. The implementation of these plans is contracted and determined on an annual basis to meet the board of directors goals and objectives.Communicate with stakeholders regarding annual monitoring of eased property, while confirming current land ownership, owners goals/objectives, and site management progression. Suggest management recommendations on conservation easements to enhance conservation values. Monitoring and document conservation easements for possible violations.Current stakeholder in the Deepwater Horizon Gulf Restoration Fund along the Gulf Coast region, while working with National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and Restore Council in opportunities in land acquisition, conservation, and restoration.Sister organization to Atlantic Coast Conservancy

Founded in 2019, Oakleigh Bee Company is located in Mobile, Alabama. The floral honey collects its name from the historic district located near downtown known as the Oakleigh Garden District. Oakleigh Bee Company harvests honey and uses bee wax for the creation of natural products (chapstick, lotion bars, etc).

Use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to outline land conservation, carbon sequestration, and conservation biology. Create baseline documentation for potential conservation easements and designing maps to outline property environmental values (canopy cover, orthoimagery, soils, hydrology, topography, impervious surfaces, land use land cover (LULC), location, ecoregions, etc.). Utilization of on-the-ground data to implement in baseline documentation report. Assist in property management inventory and geodatabase creation for Ducks Unlimited National Conservation Easement database (NCED).

As the logistics and inventory specialist my responsibility was to maintain stock levels in our warehouse, so that inventory orders and store replenishment may be fulfilled. Daily use of SAP database to manage inventory stock and processing customer orders using REI program SOM (Store Order Management).Coordinated delivery of restock and orders with freightliners. In addition, as an outfitter specialist helped customers with gear selection in the camping department.

Assisted atHuguenot Memorial Park the implementation of a management plan to include protection strategies for threatened and endangered nesting shorebirds and sea turtles. Performed biological monitoring, data collection/entry, implemented resource protection strategies, supported community outreach, staffed the nature center and wrote technical reports for the Shorebird Monitoring Program. Partnered with Audubon stewardship of critical nesting habitats along the north Florida coastline.

Assisted in arboricultural activities in the urban environment. Followed landowners objectives in mitigating urban forests. This included tree removal, tree recompense, crown reduction, risk reduction, and pathogen control. Acquired Arborist Certification through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). In addition, used climbing techniques to access tree status and species application. Followed International Society of Arboriculture Standards and practices in tree first aid. Followed OSHA protocols and continued with education credits to achieve and maintain Arborist certification. Learned to operate and maintain heavy machinery related to tree care.

Created and designed interpretation guides/brochures on native mammal species and Amicalola’s Park history. Assisted in the implementation of the riparian restoration plan of reintroducing native flora species along Amicalola Creek. Provided daily public assistance to park visitors, which included checking in day hikers, section hikers and thru hikers of the Appalachian Trail. Planned and led public/private school programs on natural history and ecology. Responsible for animal care (variety of birds, snakes, and opossum). Assisted in retail, stocking, and money collection at Visitor’s Center.

Scheduled outdoor recreational equipment rentals for university students. Assisted in trip preparation for students that were unfamiliar with the outdoors.

Primarily responsible for providing public environmental programs to school groups and park guests. Practiced resource management techniques through the implementation of the park’s management plan, which included removal by hand and herbicidal application of the invasive species Autumn Olive (Eleagnus umbellata), along with assessing the forest condition status of the old growth hemlock trees (Tsuga canadensis) in the park to determine whether they needed retreatment from the detrimental Hemlock Wooly Adelgid (Adelges tsugae) affecting our native population. Gained experience operating various park machinery, including a manual transmission dump truck.

Participated in a complex research study of Appalachian song bird food resources, implementing entomology techniques for capturing a variety of insects, point counting for bird identification, and walking line transects for site characterization. Developed the ability to set and skillfully collect insects from an array of traps such as pitfall traps, malaise traps, sticky traps, and frass traps. Gathered tree samples and insects from a range of different points in order to later identify them and log them as spatial data. This data included canopy cover (densitometer), species identification, species height (clinometer) & DBH. Improved outdoor skills through living in the field for the majority of this experience.
