About Patrick Howell, E.I.T.

Thanks to the limited amount of characters LinkedIn allows, Patrick Howell's story after high school will begin after the 3 years he spent discovering his academic interests while at community college. In 2006 he transferred to San Francisco State University to pursue his undergrad degree in civil engineering. During his studies he obtained his E.I.T. license in 2008. Patrick later received his BS in civil engineering with a structural design emphasis in 2009.Shortly after graduating, while faced with a challenging economic climate, Patrick became actively involved in volunteering organizations including Engineers without Borders (EWB), American Society of Civil Engineers and Habitat for Humanity. Volunteering on multiple EWB projects allowed Patrick to go on 2 assessment trips, one to Kenya in 2010 and another to El Salvador in 2011. His Kenya trip segued into a year long backpacking, self/world discovery adventure around the Mediterranean Sea region, exploring exotic countries such as Greece, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Italy, and many other countries throughout Europe. Not too long after his backpacking journey, in 2011, following his EWB assessment trip to El Salvador, he held a 6 month long construction management internship working for Bridges to Prosperity where he assisted in the construction of multiple pedestrian cable-suspended bridge projects in Nicaragua and El Salvador. After 2 long journeys to far away lands and some time back home in San Diego evaluating his situation, Patrick then decided to continue prepare for and continue his education pursing a masters degree in structural engineering at UCSD in 2013. The next 2 years proved to be his most challenging of them all where he overcame the steep learning curve he faced thanks to his extended time away from school through old fashion hard work. He proudly graduated from UCSD in June of 2015 with a masters of science degree in structural engineering with an emphasis in structural/seismic design.

Listed skills include Civil Engineering, Autocad, Structural Engineering, Structural Analysis, and 11 others.
