Materials Automation EngineerLicensed Engineer in Louisiana (PE.0037299)Some call it "Automagical". I have a heavy background in computer programming which has been utilized in every position I have been in; from simple excel macros to web applications with hundreds of users. My niche has been with the materials automation team, which we have transformed from a not-so-desirable support group into a welcomed user-friendly support center and application development team. LADOTD bought into the AASHTOWare SiteManager package, of which the materials application is lacking in functionality and support. This has created a multitude of issues which have been dealt with through user workarounds. With the adoption of SCRUM methodologies, I have led the team of developers to create supplemental web applications to fill in the gaps of SiteManager (concrete and asphalt mix design workflows, asphalt production workflows, reporting), which has led to creating new interfaces for existing applications while preserving data work flow of the existing applications (sampling plan, error and omission reports, concrete production workflows).I am well versed in pavement materials, with several years of research in asphalt and concrete materials, participation on national committees for pavement materials, and a master's degree in civil engineering focusing on pavement materials. I also participate on research review committees, specification revision committees, and quality assurance program committees for the LADOTD.My passion for data-mining has led to many requests for custom reporting across the department; sources include SiteManager construction and materials databases, mainframe materials database, pavement management databases, traffic databases, ITS databases, and research databases. Many requests involve multiple data sources which required temporary table creation and dynamic keying cross referencing.Areas of Interest:Concrete MaterialsAsphalt MaterialsQuality Assurance ProgramsPavement ManagementAutomationData MiningProgramming
