A former Judge of the Arizona Court of Appeals, Patrick Irvine, is a Director at Fennemore Craig. He practices in federal, state and local taxation; tax-exempt organizations; public law; Indian law; and appeals, as well as regularly serving as an arbitrator, mediator and judge pro tem of the Superior Court. Before being appointed to the court, he was an attorney in the office of the Arizona Attorney General, serving as Solicitor General, Chief Counsel of the Tax Section, and chair of the Attorney General's Open Meeting Law Enforcement Team. He has extensive experience in administrative law, constitutional law, and drafting legislation and agreements. His background in ethics and professional responsibility includes service on the Arizona Supreme Court’s Committee on Character and Fitness and Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee. His litigation experience includes representing clients in controversies before administrative agencies and arguing cases at all levels of the state and federal courts, including a successful argument before the U.S. Supreme Court. For almost thirty years he has been a frequent teacher and trainer on law, ethics and regulatory issues at countless seminars and for several institutions of higher education. He also worked in the tax department of an international accounting firm and as an Assistant General Counsel to the Gila River Indian Community.
