As Geotechnical Engineering Manager for Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) I serve as the geotechnical engineering subject matter expert on open pit, tailings, heap leach, and infrastructure for the NGM portfolio. I also provide geotechnical engineering support for Barrick sites as-needed.

As chief geotechnical engineer for the open pit I manage the open pit geotechnical engineering and hydrology teams. I serve as the geotechnical engineering subject matter expert for the site on matters influencing surface operations; review and interpret geotechnical performance monitoring data (e.g., InSAR and RAR slope radars, RTS, extensometers, etc.); work with short term and long term planning teams to optimize pit designs and minimize geotechnical engineering impacts on LOM; review and evaluate blast design/performance on highwall stability and deformation; supervise development of the site geotechnical model; perform and review stability analysis and numerical modeling; review geotechnical engineering reports prepared by geotechnical engineering staff and consultants on highwall, HLFs, waste dumps, TSFs design; consult with underground operations on open pit-underground interactions; manage/mentor geotechnical engineering staff members; prepare LOM budgets and AFEs; provide geotechnical engineering support for the ground control management plan (GCMP); prepare and present geotechnical engineering matters to crews during crew safety meetings; develop and facilitate the surface ground control component of MSHA new hire training and annual refresher training (ART); develop and facilitate task-specific ground control training as-needed.

As senior engineering geologist for WKA I was responsible for preparation of maps, reports, proposals, specifications, estimates, and blast designs; perform and manage geotechnical investigations for feasibility, design, and forensic evaluations/upgrades of mines, tailings impoundments, dams, structures, and other civil works; landslide investigations, mitigation, and monitoring; slope stability analyses; seismic deformation analyses; ground motion analyses including probabilistic and deterministic seismic hazard analyses for PGA and spectral response; site response analysis; SB1953 evaluations; ASCE 41-06 seismic rehabilitations; liquefaction analyses and mitigation; fault rupture investigations; design, installation, and interpretation of geotechnical monitoring arrays (e.g., tiltmeters, inclinometers, survey monuments, etc.); blast performance evaluation and troubleshooting; third-party peer review; litigation support and expert witness testimony.
