Label me Old School, but I genuinely subscribe to the principle of people acting with Professionalism, Integrity, Reliability and Accountability. I recognise the importance of Getting the Job Done - 'Improvise, Adapt and Overcome'. If I can't find a way to do it myself, then I'll identify someone with the necessary skills and knowledge who can find the way for me. No excuses and hand-balling responsibility to others.However - and crucially - ensuring that everyone returns home safely at the end of their day's work is imperative.For those who remember the popular 1980s Police drama 'Hill Street Blues' (and the memorable theme tune) the words of Sergeant Phil Esterhaus at the start of each shift struck a chord with me when I was embarking on my Police career - and still has a significant resonance to this day:'Hey - Let's be careful out there.' Aside from my own personal background and upbringing, my experience of over 20 years in Front-Line Policing in both the UK and Australia, followed by various escalating management roles, has served to further reinforce my values and principles.My personal and professional background, combined with those of the people I chose to work closely with, demonstrates my commitment to these crucial attributes.But don't get me wrong.
