Health And Physical Education Teacher
CurrentAs a Physical Education and Health Teacher in Cambridge Public Schools I have had the pleasure of working in a diverse setting both culturally and socioeconomically. I have had the opportunity to become an expert in creating standards based units and lessons in both subjects, designing behavior management routines and positive behavior systems, working collaboratively with fellow staff members, as well as increasing meaningful two way communication with families and community members. My responsibilities of the position include planning and teaching both health and physical education for grades K-8. Through this position I have learned to be very flexible by traveling between schools (as many as 4) and classrooms as well teaching multiple different age groups and subjects in a given day. In addition to this my years working at the Amigos (two-way bilingual program) has allowed me to become proficient in being a bilingual school in planning and teaching curriculum in both English and Spanish. I have also taken on additional responsibilities as the the school's coach and athletics director responsible for recruitment, scheduling, and coaching athletic sessions throughout each year. This has proven to be a powerful way to build relationships with both students and parents beyond the school day as well as promote and provide opportunities for students to partake in healthy and structured physical activity after school. As a budding school leader I have also taken on multiple leadership experiences through this position including... -Working to develop the health and PE curriculum at the district level. -Taking on leadership roles in various committees including behavioral committees, family and community outreach committees, as well as the Amigos School Council. -Facilitating advisory periods and special events at the school. - Participating in completion of 500+ internship hours necessary to earn administrative license.
