Have you ever asked students to read a text, participate in a group discussion or put their phones away during class. Sometimes it occurred to me that rather than awareness or knowledge of my audience it was very like knowing you’re enemy. I was able to build trust and confidence in my classes and by doing so able to persuade them to engage in tasks they may have otherwise avoided. By building trust I was able to influence them and use the same skills I was coaching in them; critical thinking, confidence building and giving and receiving feedback. The students at UCD were culturally and developmentally diverse, and many from non-English speaking backgrounds. Each lesson is a narrative with characters, conflicts and resolutions, just as any fundraiser email or campaign advertisement is a narrative, but instead of a donation, or influence, or a call to action, these narratives were about concepts, theories and methods. Because I was able to communicate these stories I was nominated for a UCD Teaching and Learning award. I was nominated for a 2021/22 UCD Teaching and Learning award.• Prepared and delivered engaging classes on Sustainable Development Policy, Social Development Goals, political theory and climate change at UCD.• Nominated for a UCD Teaching and Learning award for creating a trusting and influential learning environment.• Marked assignments, assisted students with time management, and prepared classes on development metrics and policy brief writing.

I reviewed up to six programs a week and wrote five hundred-word reports for each program. I made specific, concrete suggestions about style, content and performance that clarified programming content and provided methods to improve balance.

• Led strategic planning and coordination for Greenpeace's campaign to protect the charity status of environmental organizations in Australia.• Successfully raised over a quarter of a million dollars and recruited sixteen thousand members for the campaign.• Collaborated with various teams to tell the story of Greenpeace Australia Pacific through personal grassroots donor stories.

Since I joined Senator Moore’s Office, she was promoted to Shadow Minister for Women, Carers and Communities, and, Manager of Opposition business in the Senate and successfully contested two elections with increased personal votes on both occasions. Communications and media - Media included Op-Eds and talking points for interviews and campaign events. I provided executive support during parliamentary sitting weeks and wrote about 15 speeches for those weeks every year. I also wrote online communications such as a weekly newsletter, supporter emails and fundraising emails. Between 2011 and 2015 the readership of our newsletter grew by 40%.I provided executive assistance for a short film in 2013 for the Parliamentary Group on Population and Development (PGPD) in collaboration with CARE Australia on domestic violence. You can watch the video here.Constituent engagement – Constituent business occupied a fifth of my time and I often represented the Senator at community forums and at branch meetings. In a year, on average, I completed more than a hundred and twenty constituent requests to satisfactory conclusions.Project management - In 2011/12 I was a climate connector on the Say Yes Campaign, funded by the Southern Cross Climate Coalition. I performed tasks like media and communications, stakeholder engagement, administration and recruiting.
