At the Columbus, NE location, Superior manufactures washing, classifying, and dewatering equipment used in the aggregate & frac sand mining industry. Aggregate is the sand and gravel component of concrete. Frac sand is a type of sand that is pumped below the surface with water to make the rock layer more porous to allow for better extraction of crude oil.Modeled wear shoes based on the curvature of their respective helical flights and are still able to be flattened (for drawing purposes). Previously only had outdated drawings. Modeled all common wear shoe variations used in washing equipment.Revised sand screw flight models for more accurate hole alignment with wear shoes.Redesigned vibrating motor platform for Dewatering Screens to reduce its weight by 45% while maintaining strength and rigidity. The original featured an I-beam with gradual widening bases. The new version uses a taller I-beam design with gussets, cutouts from beam that experience low stress, and a revised attachment system to the tub.Redesigned dewater screen under flume return flow pipe. Original design had the pipe wearing through within 2-3 months. New design implements a polypropylene pipe that can easily be replaced.

BD Pharmaceutical Systems (Columbus, NE East Plant) is a primary producer of glass syringes.Validated rubber stopper visual inspection machine, which include running 2300+ manually defected stoppers through machine, saving pictures from machine, running pictures through offline program that highlights reason for rejection, verifying machine rejected for the targeted defect, calculating detection efficiencies, and repeating for 9000+ digitally generated hair and in spot defects. Procedures were recorded to ensure quicker validations in the future.Revised 90+ SolidWorks and Inventor parts, assemblies, and drawings to include recent upgrades and variations to accommodate 7 different sizes of barrels. These files are for the air wash stations that were being installed on all glass syringe forming machines.Collected, graphed, and used autocorrelation to determine that there were periodic variations occurring on forming machines. Shorter intervals were found to possibly be the frequencies that wheel and gears were turning. The longest interval was found to likely be caused by routine pin changes.Entered overall length and pull-out force data, completed flange strength test, assisted in change control, designed chute to prevent barrels from landing inside of oven, designed Lexan window to view inner workings of oven, and designed a more accurate fixture to align tooling on forming machines.

My division produced XL shunts for various cars (mainly electric cars), electronics, and aerospace equipment.Designed a fixture to more accurately locate the press nut onto shunts. Previous measurements showed that the press nut was moving around within the oval shaped hole of the part.Created a fixture for circuit boards to be soldered into the molded housings of a line of parts. Additionally, programmed the machine to solder 1 part, 4 parts, and 18 parts at a time, which were then tested for consistency.Designed a ramp for the punch machine to prevent parts from bouncing around and piling on top of each other and not fitting through flatness gauges.Created and revised 40+ production procedures, receiving inspection documents, and SolidWorks parts, drawings, and assemblies to be used for packaging material, raw material, and part inspections.
