I currently do 360 Recruitment, with the use of the applicant tracking system, Avature. I also have extensive knowledge of the HR system Workday. I am responsible for recruitment for North West, Wales, Midlands, North East and Yorkshire.In addition to this I regularly create new material to improve the business, such as assessment centre material, new and innovative job descriptions to attract the best talent possible, as well as the Glassdoor information regarding Arriva.In addition I offer support to all candidate queries as and when they arise, as well as assisting the recruitment team in any way I can, so that collectively as a team, we are providing an excellent service.

This role was meant to be for 3 months however, I completed the work a lot quicker than that which I believe illustrates the work ethic I have. During this role I dealt with employee queries via telephone and email, whilst using the HR systems snowdrop KCS and Expenses on Demand to resolve issues such as working patterns and vehicle approval for expenses .I also carried out data input to perform such tasks as creating job templates and updating the HR systems to reflect any change, as Riverside had recently gone through a restructure so all former data such as cost centre codes had changed and needed updating.

I took on this role to gain experience in HR, as I had no previous experience prior to this. This placement assisted me in gaining the knowledge to pass my Level 7 CIPD Human Resource Management (MA) as well as giving me insight into business policies and procedures. My role for Open Awards mainly consisted of reviewing policies and providing recommendations. I was asked to join a meeting on their health and wellbeing policy to discuss the recommendations I had put forward.I was also asked to create several reports comparing data from different years using their HR ICT system (HR Works). This led to analysing the data to compare against national averages, to which I would document and forward my findings to the director.I was also asked whether a child safeguarding policy was needed, to which I researched the area and concluded it was not, as the legislation was not relevant for their organisation however, I did document a few ideas, some of which are going to be discussed at the next board meeting, as the director felt some of my ideas may be useful.

The mentoring scheme consisted of a one to one basis where I undertook one student and provided help via email at any time it was needed to prepare my mentee for the year ahead of them. University can be an overwhelming step up from A-level study and I found this scheme was a productive use of my time to help my mentee settle in at university. This scheme is invaluable as it allows mentors to pass on knowledge and experience obtained in first year to provide mentees with the tools to succeed and complete assignments to the best of their abilities.
