My name is Patrick Kirsche and I’m a student at the University of Central Florida Rosen College of Hospitality. I’m majoring in hospitality management, with a minor in marketing, and a certificate in beverage management. I chose this university because it was so highly acclaimed in hospitality management. I applied to other hospitality and restaurant management programs, but I knew this one would offer me the most opportunities in the future. I’ve chosen this major because I love working in the food and beverage industries. When I was kid, I’ve always loved cooking and baking, and always dreamed of becoming a chef. As I’ve gone through high school and the beginning of college, I truly learned what the hospitality industry was and changed my major from restaurant management to hospitality management. I made this decision because even though I love restaurants, I realized I would have the same passion working in catering, beverage facilities, or many other different aspects of hospitality. I decided to include the beverage management certificate in my schooling because after taking a spirits management class, I realized how diverse the beverage industry was. I remember in one of my classes, the professor brought in industry professionals who work for a distributing company. I had never even thought of that as being apart of the hospitality industry, but it truly changed my trajectory for my future. This was the same time when I decided to add marketing as a minor, because no matter what I did in the hospitality industry, I knew these skills would be beneficial. But my dream would be to work for a food or beverage facility in marketing. This allows me to combine my love for cooking and baking with my creativity and intellect.
