Led engineering for Spotify’s Fan Monetization efforts, connecting artists and fans on our platform to grow new revenue streams for artists and for Spotify.As a Director and Senior Engineering Manager, I played a leadership role in the formation, growth and iteration of Spotify’s first artist and industry strategy and team, including the creation of Spotify for Artists – Spotify’s premier portal for the music industry.Earlier work as an Engineering Manager included building out a US-based web engineering practice, developing internal-facing analytics tools, growing Spotify’s subscription business via web-based marketing tools, launching the streaming service in dozens of international markets and building out early artist engagement features.

Led the engineering team that developed and managed shared web infrastructure for over 50 urban terrestrial radio stations and a half-dozen African-American-focused pop culture blogs. Maintained the BlackPlanet social network and led development of the BlackPlanet Next social curation engine.

Led Web, IT and Systems teams. Developed web-based and in-client product marketing capabilities, and one-time and recurring billing e-commerce infrastructure, driving millions of dollars in monthly revenue. Managed on-site, AWS and CDN infrastructure that supported LimeWire’s Gnutella network presence, web and commerce systems, download store, unlaunched streaming service and NYC office.

Architected and led development of an entirely new public-facing web presence and content management system for Marvel Comics. Recruited and hired engineering team for the project.

Led a web-focused engineering team and managed technology vendors for digital cable television channels targeting toddlers (Noggin) and tweens (The N). For Noggin this focused on interactive television features, educational games and an online learning curriculum. For The N, we developed numerous groundbreaking social gaming, social networking, social video and community features.
