Building a business from scratch to a 240 cow self-contained organic beef operation over 180 Ha of converted land. During its ten year life span, we won Dovecote Park’s (the supplier for Waitrose) Organic Beef Supplier of the Year award four times.

The farm business was subsequently sold to C G Greig Farms Ltd for whom I continued as the farm’s general manager. During the next 20 years, following a strategically planned range of land acquisitions and business developments, the farm grew from 800 Ha to a 1600 Ha diversified operation. The business has won multiple awards including the MLC Beef Producer of the Year award.The business expanded to encompass a large self-contained Suckler cow and finishing unit with 600 cows, a vegetable operation with on-farm packing and chilling of calabrese and a seed and ware potato growing and packing operation. The development of these three enterprises allowed the output of the cereal operation to be increased and GPS soil mapping and variable rate applications further increased production levels.

Responsible for setting up, developing and managing a new farm business. The farm grew from an 280 Ha arable farm to an 800 Ha business with a diversified range of enterprises.

Responsible for agronomy, husbandry and managing the arable team on an 880 Ha farm of arable cropping and grassland.
